On September 15, more than 8,800 fall graduate freshmen of the Class of 2026 from across the country converged at SEU to start a new chapter in their academic pursuits.

On that day, Wu Xiaocheng, Secretary of the CPC SEU Committee, and Sun Litao, Vice President, accompanied by heads of relevant departments, visited registration sites at the School of Mathematics, the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the School of Software, the School of Artificial Intelligence, and the School of Transportation, among others. They extended care and greetings to the orientation volunteers and gained a detailed understanding of the profile of graduate freshmen and the registration procedures. Wu Xiaocheng fully affirmed the orientation work of each school and department, while emphasizing the need to effectively provide convenient and warm one-stop orientation services, so that freshmen can feel the university’s care. He also offered guidance on follow-up graduate cultivation in schools and departments.
At the orientation site, Wu Xiaocheng extended a warm welcome to the graduate freshmen arriving for registration. He encouraged the students to uphold the university motto of “Striving for Perfection”, scale the heights of academic excellence, and strive to grow into leading talents with a sense of national commitment and an international perspective, who will lead the future and benefit humanity.
In the student dormitory area, Wu Xiaocheng inspected the supporting living facilities, the move-in of freshmen, and the management of dormitory buildings, and had cordial exchanges with freshmen and their parents, inquiring with concern about the actual needs of the new students. Wu Xiaocheng urged the dormitory staff to effectively strengthen safety management in the dormitory area, build a solid safety defense line, and safeguard students' safety.

It is reported that the graduate freshmen of the Class of 2026 are distributed across six campuses at three locations—Jiulonghu, Sipailou, Dingjiaqiao, Jiangbei, Wuxi, and Suzhou—covering multiple disciplinary fields including science, engineering, humanities, management, and medicine. During the orientation period, the university set up multiple orientation service stations at high-speed railway stations, airports, and each campus, providing freshmen with free subway ride vouchers and offering comprehensive help and support such as information consultation, route guidance, luggage handling, and answering questions. Each school and department welcomed the freshmen with distinctive, warm, and thoughtful activities and services, helping new students better adapt to the new environment and kick off a new life.
